We speak to a lot of customers and if we had a pound for every time they told us about their struggle to find the right presentation packaging, by now we would be stinking rich! Of course, we can all spend countless hours on Google searching for terms such as bespoke gift boxes, customised boxes, wholesale boxes etc., but it can be a minefield, not least because there are so many packaging suppliers out there, some who specialise in corrugated, some who supply folding cartons and others like Twinklepeeps, who is a specialist in the supply of rigid gift and presentation boxes.
So where do you begin? Follow our 5 point action plan below and you will be well on your way to sourcing irresistible presentation boxes which will captivate your customers!
1. Think about the style of box. Are you looking for a box with a lift-off lid, a hinged lid or maybe a shoulder box? Not sure? Then you can view our Box Styles page which provides an overview of the different box styles. Need some more inspiration? You can also find lots of examples of bespoke boxes in our Gallery. Once you have decided on a style, then search Google or Yahoo for the box style. For example, a search on bespoke rigid shoulder boxes returns several links to our website as we have lots of experience in supplying this style of box. Narrow down your search to a particular box style from the outset, then you are much more likely to find the right supplier first time.
2. Request a quote and supply as much information as possible including a copy of your artwork. The more information you provide, the more accurate the quote will be. Here at Twinklepeeps, we have developed a simple online form which is quick and easy to complete. By asking our customers to complete this Quotation Request Form, we can ensure we have all of the information we need in order to provide a quote. The form has been designed to make the process much more simple as there are many options when it comes to boxes and our aim is to assist you along the way. It is important that we see your artwork or at the very least know the number of colours contained in your artwork so that we can identify the most appropriate printing method. At this stage, it is also imperative to set yourself a budget so that you can narrow down the available options to assist with your decision making process.
3. Differentiate your brand. Once you have an initial quote, you have a foundation which you can build upon. You know the starting price and you also know what you can afford. Now is the time to look at how you can differentiate your bespoke presentation boxes from your competitors’ packaging. Play with colour combinations, consider moving away from the norm; for example, why not try a different foil colour. Whilst silver is a popular foil choice, we now have some eye-catching new colours available including copper, light blue, gunmetal and aquamarine, which, combined with the right paper covering can produce stunning effects. Remember, your packaging is the face of your business. Your packaging needs to capture your customers’ interest. Before a customer has even seen your product, they will formulate a first impression about your brand, so it is essential to spend some time perfecting artwork and colour combinations, to ensure you create the first impression from the outset.
4. Don’t rush the process. Spend time reviewing your designs; gain feedback from your colleagues and customers and of course Twinklepeeps; we will be happy to help. Fine tune your ideas and don’t be afraid to make changes if you feel a design doesn’t give the right impression. Be prepared to be flexible and keep an open mind with regard to new design ideas.
5. Pay for a sample to be made to your exact specification and most importantly test it on your customers. There is no greater feedback than customer feedback. After all, it is your existing and potential customers who you want to captivate!

So why is getting your packaging right first time so important? Read on to learn the 3 main reasons why you should consider advertising your brand on your packaging.
1. First impressions really do count!
As the saying goes, ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression.’
When selling a product, be it in a physical shop, an online shop, or a means of presenting literature about a service you provide, your packaging will be the first point of interaction your customer will have with your brand. Therefore, it is essential to make an impact from the outset. If you had to choose between two identical products; one of these being housed in a bespoke branded box and one being presented in a plain box, you would almost certainly opt for the product in the customised packaging. Why? Well, it looks more professional, the packaging adds value to the product inside and it reassures you of the credibility of the Company. Your customer will formulate an opinion of your Company based on your packaging and as such, this should communicate a positive message about who you are and what you are about.
2. Remain competitive with a powerful brand image
If you do not currently use customised boxes or any other branded packaging, you may be missing out on potential sales, as your competitors more than likely will be. So, it is important, particularly in markets where there is a lot of competition, to find ways of differentiating your product or service offering. High quality presentation packaging can be utilised as an effective marketing tool. Creating a distinct powerful brand should be your ultimate goal. It allows you to communicate the right message to your customers. Your brand should represent the positive image you wish to portray within the marketplace. Taking Jo malone’s luxury gift boxes as an example, the technique of producing a rim around the edge of the lid is known in the trade as ‘banding’. This design of banded gift box has now become synonomous with the Jo Malone brand and we are regularly asked to quote for ‘Jo Malone’ style rather than ‘banded’ boxes. A powerful, well presented brand will tempt customers to choose your products over the competition’s and will help to increase brand loyalty, ensuring your customers continue to return time and time again.
3. Product Awareness
By choosing to have your logo printed on your packaging, be it gift boxes, mailing cartons, gift bags, ribbon or tissue paper, you are creating lots of opportunties to expose your brand to potential customers. The more recognisable your brand becomes, the more likely it is that people will trust it, so the more exposure you can get the better. You should never underestimate the ability of great presentation packaging as a tool to enhance your product sales.

Branded packaging isn’t exclusive to the ‘big names’. There are a range of solutions to suit every budget. Perhaps, you are about to make your first enquiry about bespoke gift or presentation boxes or would simply like to know more about what is involved when purchasing custom made boxes. In the following article, we have listed some importants points for you to think about before you begin your search.
1. Which box style?
Bespoke rigid gift boxes can be made in various styles; box with lift-off lid, shoulder box with lift-off lid, box with a 3-sided hinged lid, box with a hinged flap lid with magnetic closure and more. With so many options available, where should you begin?
Firstly and most importantly, you should decide on a budget. A gift box with lift-off lid is the most cost effective option. Therefore, when beginning your quest for bespoke presentation boxes, a box with a lift-off lid is always a good starting point. Then if your budget allows, you have the option to progress to a more expensive box style. Custom made boxes can be produced cost effectively and it is important to understand how various options can influence the price. For example size, board thickness and extras such as card and foam inserts, satin linings and lining the inside of the box with a coloured paper will all affect the price of a basic box.
Our aim is to provide support and guidance along the way, helping you to find the most appropriate solution whilst keeping within your budget. For further information on the different box styles available click here:
2. How do I measure a box?
The box size is calculated on the internal dimensions of the base (Length x Width x Height). You should measure the item(s) going into the box and advise us of the size and we can check to ensure the box measurements are correct. If you are unsure, when an order is placed, you are able to send us the contents so that we can ensure a perfect fit. This is also necessary if the box contains a card or foam insert to hold the item in place.

Box measurements are always expressed in three dimensions (Length x Width x Height) and represent the internal dimensions of a box.
3. What quantity of boxes should I order?
The answer to this question will depend on your budget and also how much storage space you have. The larger the quantity of boxes ordered, the more cost effective the price will be. However, depending on their size, rigid (ready made up) bespoke boxes can also take up a lot of space, so remember to ensure that you have plenty of room to house the quantity you require. If your business is new, you should also consider how long it may take to use the boxes.
4. Branded versus unbranded boxes?
There is no question that a box containing your unique logo will leave a lasting first impression on the recipient. In most cases, the packaging is seen before the product itself, so it is vitally important that it has the wow factor. For small box quantities, the most cost effective method of transferring a logo to the box paper covering is through foil blocking. This is where a solid 1 colour logo is reproduced on the paper using a metal die containing an impression of the logo in conjuction with a coloured foil. Through a combination of heat and pressure the logo is depressed into the paper. There are various coloured foils available, including both flat and metallic colours. For those logo designs with more than 1 colour, the paper used to cover the box must be litho or digitally printed depending on the quantity of boxes required. However, this can be expensive on quantities of less than 200 boxes.

5. Which paper coverings are available?
There are many papers available in different finishes from textured to suede and leather effects. However, specialist papers usually come at a premium and minimum quantities are normally involved. For smaller quantities in particular, the most economical covering is a stock paper. These are available in a wide range of colours and several textured finishes depending on the chosen colour.
Twinklepeeps specialises in the supply of bespoke rigid gift and presentation boxes and custom made folding cartons and gift packaging accessories. From early September onwards, during the run up to Christmas, businesses are focusing on ways to promote and differentitate their products from the competition. So,how do you make your product offerings stand out from the crowd? Read on to find out more about our top 3 recommendations..
1. Can a bespoke gift box really make a difference?
Yes! Choosing the right presentation packaging solution can be the difference between somebody picking up your product rather than a competitor’s offering. First impressions count, as do product sales, so don’t underestimate the value luxury gift packaging can add to your products. For Christmas gift purchases, customers are usually looking for something extra special, so choosing the right packaging solution can make all the difference. If the product is presented pre-gift packaged, this is also appealing to the customer as no further wrapping will be required saving them time and money.

2. To brand or not to brand? That is the question..
As well as making your product look more appealing, by putting your Company branding on the packaging, you are advertising your business and improving recall of your brand and therefore increasing the likelihood of a repeat purchase. There are several ways to brand your packaging with the most common method being foil blocking artwork or litho printing on to gift and presentation boxes.

Foil Blocked Shoulder Box With Lift-off Lid
Other ways of branding your luxury gift packaging include the use of custom printed ribbon or branded tissue paper.
3. Think Christmas colours!
Most people associate reds, greens, gold, silver and bronze with the festive period. You can add a Christmas feel to your packaging with something as simple as wrapping a gold ribbon around a box or padding the base of the box with some red or gold tissue paper. A metallic gold or silver foil blocked logo looks particularly effective on the lid of a bespoke box. If you supply promotional gifts to your customers at Christmastime there are many ways to present your product in a luxurious way. For example, a bottle of champagne or wine could be placed in a bespoke box lined with satin and cushioned with beads, as per the example below:

What is a bespoke gift box?
There are times when an off-the-shelf or stock gift box won’t fit the bill. Perhaps the size isn’t quite right, or the colour isn’t the correct shade or it’s only available in matt when you would really like a gloss finish. You may have searched the web for hours unsuccessfully. Perhaps it is time to consider a bespoke gift box.
A bespoke or custom-made rigid (or ready-made up) gift box is made exactly to your specification from scratch. The advantage being that your bespoke gift box will be unique and fit for purpose.
The following list details the various elements which will be discussed when developing a bespoke gift box:
Dimensions (Length x Width x Height)
Style of box – The most popular style is the two piece rigid gift box with lift-off lid. However, alternative options include a gift box with a hinged lid, a shoulder gift box, wrap around or clam shell gift box.
Quantity – Most manufacturers specify a minimum quantity of at least 50 boxes. Occasionally smaller quantities can be accommodated but this will depend on the overall specification of the gift box.
Board thickness – This is measured in microns. Generally, bespoke gift boxes are produced from board which is between 800 microns and 2000 microns thick. The size of the box dictates the thickness of the board used.
Lid Depth – This relates to how far the lid should come down the depth of the box.
External Colour – There are many paper coverings available in a range of colours and textures in matt or gloss finishes.
Internal Colour – The board is either white-lined or black-lined. This means that the inside of the box and lid will be either black or white. If a coloured lining is required, then a coloured paper can be used on the inside too.
Printing – Have your own logo or personalised text printed. There are several options including foil blocking, screen printing and litho printing. Full colour digital printing can also be carried out on smaller runs.
Inserts and lining – There are numerous options available here depending on the item going in the box. Card platforms are particularly useful where a product must be brought near to the top of the box. If a product needs to be held in place, a die cut card insert or foam insert will be custom made to fit your product to ensure a snug fit. For a luxury feel, a satin insert may be used over the top of a card insert or loose polystyrene beads to ensure the product is held in one place.
Where might a bespoke gift box be required?
There are many reasons why a bespoke or custom made gift box is required.
Here are just a few examples as to where a bespoke gift box may be utilised:
Weddings – favour boxes or to house gifts for bridesmaids, ushers or the best man in addition to presentation of wedding stationery.
Photographers – particularly wedding photography. Many photographers like to present the finished wedding album in a bespoke gift box.
Promotional – Special events or product presentation, opening ceremonies, corporate gifts, fashion shows, company literature and product launches.
Hairdressers and beauty salons – bespoke gift boxes to house gift vouchers or beauty products.
Branded boxes for luxury goods – tie boxes, cufflink boxes, glove boxes, wallet boxes.
Products – DVD and CD boxes, book boxes, cigar boxes, bottle boxes A5, A4 and A3 sized boxes for stationery.

The Gift
You’ve purchased the ideal gift for your special someone and you just know that they are going to be ultra impressed with your choice! Of course, the gift is fantastic, but there is little point in buying a fabulous gift if it isn’t presented in some equally spectacular luxury gift packaging which also complements the theme of the gift! Show your loved one that they really are worth it and make your gift more special by putting some extra thought into the gift packaging as well as the gift itself. This is the first impression the recipient will get so why not make an impact? You’ll be amazed at the results!
The Secret
Perhaps you have purchased some sexy lingerie or nightwear. First of all, we would suggest wrapping the gift in some of our tissue paper. Choose two colours to create extra impact. The colour will depend on that of the rest of the gift packaging, as we need to make sure the two complement each other. Before choosing a gift box or gift bag to put the item in to, it’s always worth adding an extra accessory, such as some of our new sexy saucy ribbon, love heart ribbon, duet heart ribbon, jacquard rose or double-faced satin ribbons or even a gift bow. These little additions will show that you have thought about the gift and also demonstrate your intention to make the gift special and unique. You could even include a little message before the recipient opens the final layer of tissue paper. Once you have done this, it is then time to choose a gift box or a gift bag. The size of your gift will dictate which option you select. For a sexy lingerie gift, our range of high quality sexy gift boxes are the ultimate choice. Available in three colour variations they will wow any lady!

Alternatively, if you’re giving some flowers, how about wrapping some red and gold tissue paper around them and finishing off with some of our duet heart ribbon in red and gold.
If you want to disguise a box of perfume and keep your partner in suspense, we suggest wrapping it in tissue paper and ribbon as detailed above, then putting it into one of our two-piece gift boxes. We think that the black version teamed with our new sexy saucy ribbon looks great.

Twinklepeeps.com supplies a wide range of luxury gift packaging products in both retail and wholesale quantities.
All of the above products can be purchased at Twinklepeeps.com. Delivery is included on all orders of £10.00 and above. Hurry as we have 15% off all products until February 14th.
