Protx Rebrands To Sage Pay

April 22nd, 2009 · No Comments · News

As an online business, preventing internet fraud is a top priority and we would like to reassure our existing and potential new customers of the security measures we have in place.

We have chosen to work with leading payment services provider Protx who provides a secure payment gateway (Level 1 PCI DSS), processing payments for over 24,000 online businesses, including ours. You may have noticed the Protx logo - a recognised mark of security - on our website and payment pages, where you enter your card details.

On the 21st April 2009 Protx changed its name to Sage Pay.

The switch to Sage Pay is a strategic move by the company, which is owned by business management software provider Sage, and services will not be affected in any way. In fact Protx, (Sage Pay) is introducing 24/7 support from 21 April 2009, making them even more accessible should we, or you need to contact them.

From a day-to-day perspective there will be no difference to the service, but we wanted to assure you of our continued commitment to security on our site by making you aware of Protx and the subsequent rebrand to Sage Pay. For more information on Sage Pay click here.

Bespoke Gift Boxes - The Lowdown

March 3rd, 2009 · No Comments · Ideas, Information

What is a bespoke gift box?

There are times when an off-the-shelf or stock gift box won’t fit the bill.  Perhaps the size isn’t quite right, or the colour isn’t the correct shade or it’s only available in matt when you would really like a gloss finish.  You may have searched the web for hours unsuccessfully.  Perhaps it is time to consider a bespoke gift box.

A bespoke or custom-made rigid (or ready-made up) gift box is made exactly to your specification from scratch.  The advantage being that your bespoke gift box will be unique and fit for purpose.

The following list details the various elements which will be discussed when developing a bespoke gift box:

Dimensions (Length x Width x Height)

Style of box  - The most popular style is the two piece rigid gift box with lift-off lid.  However, alternative options include a gift box with a hinged lid, a shoulder gift box, wrap around or clam shell gift box.

Quantity - Most manufacturers specify a minimum quantity of at least 50 boxes.  Occasionally smaller quantities can be accommodated but this will depend on the overall specification of the gift box.

Board thickness - This is measured in microns.  Generally, bespoke gift boxes are produced from board which is between 800 microns and 2000 microns thick. The size of the box dictates the thickness of the board used.

Lid Depth - This relates to how far the lid should come down the depth of the box.

External Colour - There are many paper coverings available in a range of colours and textures in matt or gloss finishes.

Internal Colour - The board is either white-lined or black-lined.  This means that the inside of the box and lid will be either black or white.  If a coloured lining is required, then a coloured paper can be used on the inside too.

Printing - Have your own logo or personalised text printed.  There are several options including foil blocking, screen printing and litho printing. Full colour digital printing can also be carried out on smaller runs.

Inserts and lining - There are numerous options available here depending on the item going in the box.  Card platforms are particularly useful where a product must be brought near to the top of the box.   If a product needs to be held in place, a die cut card insert or foam insert will be custom made to fit your product to ensure a snug fit. For a luxury feel, a satin insert may be used over the top of a card insert or loose polystyrene beads to ensure the product is held in one place.

Where might a bespoke gift box be required?

There are many reasons why a bespoke or custom made gift box is required.

Here are just a few examples as to where a bespoke gift box may be utilised:

Weddings - favour boxes or to house gifts for bridesmaids, ushers or the best man in addition to presentation of wedding stationery.

Photographers - particularly wedding photography.  Many photographers like to present the finished wedding album in a bespoke gift box.

Promotional - Special events or product presentation, opening ceremonies, corporate gifts, fashion shows, company literature and product launches.

Hairdressers and beauty salons - bespoke gift boxes to house gift vouchers or beauty products.

Branded boxes for luxury goods - tie boxes, cufflink boxes, glove boxes, wallet boxes.

Products - DVD  and CD boxes, book boxes, cigar boxes, bottle boxes A5, A4 and A3 sized boxes for stationery.

The Secret To Presenting The Perfect Valentine’s Day Gift

February 6th, 2009 · No Comments · Ideas, Occasions, Valentine's Day

The Gift

You’ve purchased the ideal gift for your special someone and you just know that they are going to be ultra impressed with your choice!  Of course, the gift is fantastic, but there is little point in buying a fabulous gift if it isn’t presented in some equally spectacular luxury gift packaging which also complements the theme of the gift!  Show your loved one that they really are worth it and make your gift more special by putting some extra thought into the gift packaging as well as the gift itself.  This is the first impression the recipient will get so why not make an impact? You’ll be amazed at the results!

The Secret

Perhaps you have purchased some sexy lingerie or nightwear.  First of all, we would suggest wrapping the gift in some of our tissue paper.  Choose two colours to create extra impact.  The colour will depend on that of the rest of the gift packaging, as we need to make sure the two complement each other.  Before choosing a gift box or gift bag to put the item in to, it’s always worth adding an extra accessory, such as some of our new sexy saucy ribbon, love heart ribbon, duet heart ribbon, jacquard rose or double-faced satin ribbons or even a gift bow.  These little additions will show that you have thought about the gift and also demonstrate your intention to make the gift special and unique.  You could even include a little message before the recipient opens the final layer of tissue paper.  Once you have done this, it is then time to choose a gift box or a gift bag.  The size of your gift will dictate which option you select. For a sexy lingerie gift, our range of high quality sexy gift boxes are the ultimate choice.  Available in three colour variations they will wow any lady!

Medium Luxury Simply Sexy Folding Gift Box-Black With Scarlet Ribbon And Metallic Red Gift Tag

Alternatively, if you’re giving some flowers, how about wrapping some red and gold tissue paper around them and finishing off with some of our duet heart ribbon in red and gold.

If you want to disguise a box of perfume and keep your partner in suspense, we suggest wrapping it in tissue paper and ribbon as detailed above, then putting it into one of our two-piece gift boxes.  We think that the black version teamed with our new sexy saucy ribbon looks great.

Twinklepeeps.com supplies a wide range of luxury gift packaging products in both retail and wholesale quantities.

All of the above products can be purchased at Twinklepeeps.com.  Delivery is included on all orders of £10.00 and above.  Hurry as we have 15% off all products until February 14th.

Top 5 Tips For Smart Gift Packaging. It’s All In The Presentation!

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments · Ideas

Let’s face it, in today’s busy, modern world, gift packaging is not at the top of everyone’s priority list!  For those of us who are less organised, usually remembering a friend’s or a relative’s birthday the day before the event, we then begin a mad rush to find a suitable present and card in time.  We know that we need to find a gift that suits the recipient’s personality and we don’t want it to be totally obvious that we almost forgot their special day!  So, we spend the little time we have searching for the perfect gift and a nice personalised card to match.  Then we breathe a huge sigh of relief, content in the knowledge that we have now achieved our goal!  At this point, we have tired ourselves out so much on the present search that gift packaging is the last thing on our minds!  So, in order to bring our shopping journey to a swift conclusion, we usually buy the first gift wrapping item we lay our eyes on OR in a bid to save some time and money, we convince ourselves that there are some suitable wrapping paper off-cuts in the cupboard under the stairs which will be perfect for the job!
Ok, so we aren’t all this disorganised and some of us do spend as much time on gift packaging as we do actually searching for the gift.  The aim should be to make the whole gift package look as appealing as possible and this will of course make all the difference to the recipient as he or she will appreciate the extra effort and attention to detail.

Top 5 Gift Packaging Tips

  1. Don’t underestimate the power of the packaging!

The gift itself is perceived as the most significant element in the present giving process.  However, frequently, as outlined in the scenario above, once the gift has been purchased, the packaging is considered less important and often little thought will go into it.

The presentation of the gift is just as important as the gift itself. The luxury gift packaging is the first element the recipient will see so it is essential that this creates a lasting impression.  Remember…you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so the way the gift is packaged should indeed reflect the quality of the gift itself.

  1. To wrap or to pack…that is the question!

Choosing the right gift packaging is essential - a mistake here means a negative impact on the overall appearance of your gift.  Nobody likes to receive a poorly packaged gift.  It just gives the impression that the giver ‘couldn’t be bothered’ and may end up disappointing the recipient.  Therefore, spending some time considering the best gift packaging option is important.  There are so many choices available - you may opt for a gift box, gift bag, BoxBag®, tissue paper or gift wrap. Furthermore, there are many choices within these categories, such as colour, style, design and size.

Your decision as to which type of packaging to utilise will be based upon one or a combination of the following considerations:

Firstly, you should consider the time element, coupled with the shape of your gift.  For example, if you are short of time and your gift is an awkward shape to wrap, using wrapping paper, the task will undoubtedly take longer, so you may prefer to consider using a gift box or a gift bag along with some tissue paper.

Secondly, you should consider how much protection your gift requires and how strong the packaging needs to be.  For example, will your gift need to be posted or is it fragile or breakable?  If so, a gift box with tissue paper for padding will offer your gift more protection, whereas, a gift bag, even when placed in an envelope to be posted, could get creased, damaging your gift on the inside.

Thirdly, if your gift is a fairly obvious shape, such as a DVD, CD or a bottle, you may wish to disguise its shape to help create anticipation so that the recipient gets more of a surprise.  A gift bag, gift box or a BoxBag® would be suitable in this case.

Fourthly, if you have a gift comprising of multiple elements, you may wish to create a bundle or hamper style gift.  Each of the gifts could be wrapped individually in tissue paper and placed inside a gift box and finished with ribbon or a star bow.

Finally, your gift packaging choice will depend upon how aesthetically pleasing the end result is to the recipient.  For example, if he or she is a dog-lover and you find a gift box with a doggie design but can’t find the same theme on a gift bag, this will of course influence your choice, knowing that the recipient will appreciate the thought and effort.

  1. Simplicity is the key to effective gift presentation

When packaging your gift, it is important to bear in mind the recipient’s personality and what he or she will like.  With so many accessories available it is tempting to go overboard but this can actually affect the overall impact of the gift itself.  Therefore, try to match the packaging of the gift to the person it is being given to.  Choose two or three co-ordinating colours and finish with some ribbon or a star bow.  Introducing too many colours may result in the gift packaging looking over the top and cheap.  If you are partial to craft, plain gift boxes can be decorated with items which relate to the recipient’s hobby and a theme can be created.  For example, if Tennis is the hobby, the lid of the box could be decorated with miniature tennis balls and racquet embellishments available from a craft outlet. There is no limit to how you can decorate your gift packaging.  Just remember to keep it simple.

  1. Watch the pennies - budget time!

Whilst shopping, most of us set ourselves a budget when buying a gift and card.  Subsequently, when we buy the gift packaging we often end up spending a lot more overall than we had originally anticipated.  This can be avoided from the outset by simply deciding on a budget for your gift, card and packaging in its entirety and sticking to it.
